The small Virginia town of Montross in Westmorland County is the home of Angelica Baylor, daughter, sister, friend and full time background singer for national R & B recording artist, Ginuwine.
Angelica, a trendy, fashion forward, yet bubbly and down to earthy, young lady has always been a performer. She has competed in numerous local talent shows and even auditioned for American Idol. Now as full-time backup singer she feels like she's moving that much closer to her goal. Most every weekend she packs up from her day job as a leasing consultant and boards a plane for the next show. With two to three shows per weekend in different cities across the country, Angelica is living her dream. She is determined to make it to the top. She gets to travel the world and see different places. With first-class flights and five star hotels, she gets to live like the star she always has been. When she is not busy living it up like a rock star or working at the apartment complex, she keeps her voice in shape by singing at a local restaurant. “I like to keep myself very grounded so that I don’t get big headed when I do make it big” she stated.
Angelica is the youngest child to mother Adriane Bibbens, and father Avery Baylor. She has three sisters Mahogany Hart, Avante Baylor, and Avrian Gray. “I love them all so very much” she states. She is very close to her family, always emailing and keeping them posted on upcoming events, and things going on in her life. “I wished I could pack them up and take them with me everywhere I go, so they can experience this with me.” She said.
Growing up in a small town, she was very active in her community. She was crowned Miss Preteen in a local pageant show. She sang on the church choir as a young child, and enjoyed playing softball and cheerleading. “I wanted to be just like my sisters.” She stated. And even now she still finds time to sing on her church choir and for local weddings and funerals. In high school, Angelica was captain of the cheerleading squad and was very focused on her studies maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Her senior year in high school was given an opportunity to focus on her solo career. Excited with her chances, she spent many hours in the recording studio and doing shows in the Richmond and DC areas. When things had not progressed at the level she expected by the time she graduated high school, Angelica decided to take a break from music and get back in the books. “It was very time consuming, and I knew that my education was important.” She said. She studied psychology at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. Not able to stay away from music very long, Angelica started singing at a bar near the college campus and eventually decided that music is her true passion.
Now, she is a lead vocalist with Rhythm6 of Kushner Entertainment out of Washington, DC and always looking for opportunities to continue living her dream.
