The Robbin Steel Band - (Set time: 8:00 PM)
The Robbin Steel Band derived it's name from the Junior Parker song “Drivin' Wheel”:My baby don't have to work. She don't have to rob and steal.
The ensemble is the classic Blues line up of two guitars, bass, drums and harmonica. The original musical concept was to highlight the British Blues sound of the mid to late '60's. Specifically the music of The Rolling Stones, Savoy Brown, early Fleetwood Mac, Yardbirds, THEM, Georgie Fame, Rod Stewart, John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and early Beatles R&B. They also include songs of the Chicago urban electric blues masters such as Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter and Junior Parker. They mix in some swing tunes by Louie Jordan as well as material by more contemporary artists. Bob Dylan, John Hiatt, Tom Petty, Dave Edmunds, Nick Lowe and Lucinda Williams.
Four of the members played together in various popular local bands throughout '70's before “regrouping” a few years ago. Some of these bands include: The Nightown Blues Band, Manny Green & the Gadgets, The Babysitters, The King Pins, NY Dux and Big Posse. At that time they performed with such artists as John Lee Hooker, Rufus Thomas, Freddy King, Memphis Minnie, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen and Jerry Jeff Walker. All of the band members left the music profession to pursue other things. Three are retired (two were State employees, one was a co-founder of a well-known language learning company), and two currently work in the field of Mechanical Engineering. They have all been close friends for decades.

The Robbin Steel Band members are:
Keith Gress - Guitar
John Coppinger - Bass
Buddy Bailey- Drums/Vocals
Michael Silverman- Harp/Vocals
Rob Reisinger- Guitar /Vocals

The Robbin Steel Band performs an average of two shows a month at various local venues in Richmond, Ashland, Bowling Green and Charlottesville. They play the River City Blues Society “Brews & Blues” function twice a year. They have played a few weddings, corporate dinner functions, and municipal festivals. Their music is Blues and a mix of popular '60's R&B that can inspire people, especially “Baby Boomers” to clap, sing along and return to the dance floor. Some defining comments heard after a recent SRO Brews & Blues show are, "They are the best band I've heard in years" and "I never thought a band would make me dance again!"
